Officially opened on April 16, 2025, LOT Polish Airlines started direct service from its main hub, Warsaw Chopin Airport, to Malta International Airport, outside Valletta, therefore establishing a new air link between Central Europe and the Mediterranean.
With LOT running four flights weekly year-round—on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—the new route represents a major extension of Malta’s air network. Return flights from Malta to Warsaw are set for the same days, therefore giving constant and convenient choices for both outgoing and incoming passengers.
CEO of LOT Polish Airlines Michael Fijol was excited about the potential of the route and said, “This new service offers our customers four wisely timed once-a-week flights throughout Malta’s outstanding cultural and natural highlights.”
Beyond acting as a direct link between Poland and Malta, this flight exposes significant transfer possibilities, Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg also underlined. Picking Warsaw opens up Malta to passengers flying from cities not directly linked to it.”
“LOT’s presence increases our link with Poland and also establishes Malta as a reachable destination for tourists arriving from North America and Asia, thanks to the global reach of LOT,” noted Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef, stressing its potential effect on companies and the long-haul travel sector.
Tuesday and Saturday flights leave Warsaw in the afternoon, at 2:05 p.m. and 1:50 p.m., respectively, while on Sundays and Wednesdays they depart at 8:05 a.m. It will last around three hours.
The debut highlights Malta’s rising appeal in improving international access and providing more flexibility for tourists across several areas and travel reasons.
