Malta’s Prime Minister, Dr. Robert Abela, is set to kick off the EU-Startups Summit 2025 in Valletta, marking the beginning of two days dedicated to entrepreneurship, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions.
Before entering politics, Abela made his name as a legal consultant, advising both public and private sectors. Elected to Parliament in 2017, he quickly became a key figure behind the scenes, serving as legal counsel to the Cabinet before assuming the role of Prime Minister in 2020.
Since taking office, he has focused on positioning Malta as a dynamic business hub. His administration has pushed for economic reforms, reinforced transparency, and created policies that encourage foreign investment and digital innovation. Throughout his tenure, Malta has seen record-low unemployment rates and a stronger startup ecosystem.
With over 2,300 entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders expected at the summit, Abela’s opening speech will emphasize Malta’s emergence as a prime launchpad for startups aiming to expand into Europe and beyond.
