The government is set to introduce a reform package for the Family Court in the coming days, with the aim of making the system faster, more accessible, and more sensitive to the needs of children and families.

Officials say the changes are being driven by long-standing concerns over delays, procedural complexity, and the emotional toll that current processes place on those involved. The proposed reform is expected to streamline case management, increase support services, and bring in specialized training for judges and court staff who handle family matters.

A key focus of the package is reducing waiting times for hearings and judgments, particularly in cases involving custody, maintenance, and protection orders. The government has also signaled plans to expand mediation and counseling options so that more disputes can be resolved outside of lengthy court battles.

Justice authorities have been consulting with lawyers, social workers, and NGOs who work directly with families in order to shape the legislation. They argue that a modernized Family Court should prioritize the best interests of children while also ensuring that both parents are treated fairly throughout proceedings.

The draft law is expected to be presented to Parliament shortly. If approved, it would mark one of the most significant updates to family justice in years, with implementation planned in phases to allow courts and support services time to adjust.

The government says the goal is to create a system that is not only more efficient, but also more compassionate, so that families going through difficult times receive timely support and clear resolutions.
