Hospice Malta has secured a significant boost in funding, with the government agreeing to provide €2.5 million over the next three years to support its palliative care services. This funding will cover part of the organization’s professional salaries and specialized equipment expenses, enabling them to expand their services and reach more patients. The agreement was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne, who emphasized the government’s recognition of Hospice Malta’s essential work in providing care, compassion, and dignity to those with life-limiting conditions.
Hospice Malta has been providing palliative care services for 32 years, and this funding will help them continue to offer free services to patients and their families. The organization is also working on building a new premises, St Michael Hospice, which will allow them to expand their services and introduce new in-patient facilities.
