The White House has come out in support of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who shot and killed a 37-year-old woman, Renee Nicole Good, in Minneapolis, describing the incident as an “attack” on law enforcement. President Donald Trump has defended the agent, saying the woman “violently, willfully, and viciously” ran over the officer, who acted in self-defense. The Department of Homeland Security also released a statement saying the officer fired defensive shots, fearing for his life and the safety of others. However, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has called for a full investigation, and protesters have clashed with law enforcement, demanding ICE leave the city.
Vice President JD Vance has also defended the agent, stating that Good had “aimed her car at a law enforcement officer” and was part of a “left-wing network” opposed to ICE. The incident has sparked heated debate, with some questioning the use of force and others backing the agent’s actions. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
