Students at University of the Arts London’s London College of Fashion have unveiled a collaborative project with Adidas and the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation that honors the legacy of Stephen Lawrence through creative practice and community-focused design. Titled The Market, the project was developed by scholarship recipients drawn from multiple courses across the college, bringing together diverse perspectives in fashion, communication, and design to explore the market as a shared cultural and social space. The initiative uses the concept of the market to examine themes of exchange, identity, and belonging, connecting Stephen Lawrence’s story to broader conversations about equity, opportunity, and the role of creative education in driving social change. By partnering with Adidas, the students were able to access industry expertise and resources while maintaining an independent, research-led approach that reflects the values of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation. The collaboration highlights how educational institutions, global brands, and charitable organizations can work together to support emerging talent and create platforms that address legacy, memory, and future possibility. For the students involved, The Market serves as both a tribute and a statement of intent, demonstrating how fashion can be used as a medium for dialogue, reflection, and meaningful community engagement.
