Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has come out in support of his defender Micky van de Ven, disagreeing with Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s criticism of the tackle that led to Alexander Isak’s broken leg. Slot had described the challenge as “reckless” and said it would have caused serious injury 10 times out of 10. However, Frank believes Van de Ven was simply doing his job as a defender, stating, “If my defender doesn’t do that, I don’t think they’re true defenders”. The two players have since made amends, with Frank noting it’s a “good sign”.
