The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has declared an industrial dispute against HSBC Malta plc due to excessive delays in scheduling a meeting to discuss the financial package intended to compensate employees for their past service. The GWU has expressed growing concerns over the continued delay in receiving the draft document outlining the proposed terms of this compensation. According to Riccarda Darmanin, Section Secretary of the GWU, the exclusion of the union from this process is unacceptable and must be addressed without further delay. The ongoing uncertainty and anxiety among employees, coupled with increasing speculation, is intolerable. The GWU is committed to participating in constructive discussions and urges HSBC to engage in timely, transparent, and meaningful dialogue to resolve this matter in the best interest of all parties involved. A copy of this declaration has been sent to the Director General of DIER to document the progress of this dispute.
