The Greens are calling for the resignation of Minister Roderick Galdes following allegations of political interference and backroom deals involving Malita Investments PLC, a company responsible for managing state housing projects. The controversy surrounds Galdes’ alleged involvement in the company’s affairs, with former chairperson Marlene Mizzi claiming she was fired after confronting the minister about his interference. Mizzi, a previous Labour MEP, stated that Galdes had engaged in secret talks with contractors, sparking concerns of corruption.
The situation has escalated, with the Nationalist Party (PN) requesting an investigation by the National Audit Office (NAO) into Malita Investments’ operations. Momentum’s Arnold Cassola has also asked the Standards Commissioner to probe Galdes’ actions.
