Enola Holmes 3 is now in production, Netflix has formally stated, with Malta’s island front and center in the next movie. Enola’s most recent adventure leads her into the sun-soaked core of the Mediterranean, a fascinating new chapter for the cherished detective series after negotiating the foggy streets of Victorian England.
Henry Cavill returns as the always brilliant Sherlock Holmes; Millie Bobby Brown reprises her part as the fearless and quick Enola Holmes. With the third book, Enola is “flung into a nest of vipers” as she tackles her most tangled and perilous case yet, therefore promising a brave change of setting and tone.
Netflix says the plot will explore Enola’s changing relationship with Tewkesbury, portrayed by popular Louis Partridge, teasing mystery, danger—and maybe a bit of romance—amid the Maltese setting.
Helena Bonham Carter, Himesh Patel, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster are back in the ensemble. With a script from two-time BAFTA winner Jack Thorne, who wrote the earlier two episodes, the film is headed by noted director Philip Barantini (Adolescence).
Created by Legendary Entertainment and PCMA Productions, Brown’s own production company, the movie features an executive staff including Jake Bongiovi, Isobel Richards, and Michael Dreyer.
Although no release date has been set, filming is now ongoing at several Maltese sites, attracting fans as well as interested spectators.
