Celia Falzon’s most recent role was as CEO of Mater Dei Hospital, a position she held from 2020 to 2024. Notably, she was appointed to lead the hospital in early 2020, just as the first cases of COVID-19 were emerging in Malta, and successfully navigated the hospital through the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Celia Falzon has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jobsplus, Malta’s public employment service. Her appointment follows the transfer of Leonid McKay, who has taken on the role of CEO at the Labour Party. Falzon brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new position, having previously served as CEO of Mater Dei Hospital from 2020 to 2024. During her tenure at the hospital, she successfully navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which was first detected in Malta in early 2020.

Prior to her role at Mater Dei Hospital, Falzon also served as the chief executive of the Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme, demonstrating her ability to lead and manage complex healthcare programs. Her appointment as CEO of Jobsplus is seen as a significant move, given her proven track record in healthcare management and her ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Employment Minister Byron Camilleri welcomed Falzon to her new role, congratulating her on her appointment. He also expressed his gratitude to outgoing CEO McKay for his contributions to Jobsplus during his tenure. Minister Camilleri expressed confidence that Falzon’s expertise and experience would be invaluable assets to Jobsplus, as the organization continues to support Malta’s workforce and employers.
