Former Maltese Minister Edward Zammit Lewis has spoken out after his nomination as a European judge was rejected, placing blame squarely on the Nationalist Party (PN). Zammit Lewis claims that he was subjected to relentless undermining, both from within Malta and from external forces.

As a former Minister for Justice, Governance, and Equality, Zammit Lewis had been nominated for the prestigious role of European judge. However, his nomination was ultimately rejected, leading to his public statements criticizing the PN.

Zammit Lewis’s nomination was likely influenced by his experience as a Maltese politician and his role in shaping the country’s justice and governance systems. His rejection may have significant implications for Malta’s relationship with the European Union and the country’s judicial system .

It’s worth noting that the rejection of Zammit Lewis’s nomination is not an isolated incident. There have been several instances in the past where nominees for high-level judicial positions have been rejected or withdrawn. For example, in the United States, there have been 37 unsuccessful nominations to the Supreme Court, including notable cases such as Roger B. Taney and George W. Woodward .
