Israeli settlers have rampaged through multiple Palestinian villages in the West Bank, smashing cars, setting fires, and wounding several men in the latest flare-up of violence. The attacks, which occurred overnight on March 21-22, 2026, have raised concerns about the escalating tensions in the region. The Israeli military has condemned the violence, stating that soldiers were dispatched to several villages to quell the disturbances.
The Palestinian Authority has documented a series of arson attacks, including on mosques, across the territory, with at least 25 Palestinians killed by Israeli settlers and soldiers this year. The international community has also expressed concern, with diplomats from 13 European nations and Canada deploring “increasing settler terror” and calling for an end to violent attempts to seize Palestinian land.
The recent attacks are part of a broader surge in violence since the Iran war started, with six Palestinians shot dead in settler attacks in the West Bank since March 1, 2026. The Israeli government’s expansion of settlements in the West Bank has been cited as a contributing factor to the escalating tensions.
