The Basilica of St Paul in Rabat, Malta, has a rich history, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find specific information on the 1924 collapse of its dome. However, the basilica has undergone several restorations and repairs throughout the centuries, including after an earthquake in 1693 and World War II air raids in 1942. The current structure, designed by Lorenzo Gafà, was completed in 1683 and features a stunning Baroque architecture with a lofty dome.
The basilica is built on the site where St Paul is believed to have lived and preached after his shipwreck in Malta around 60 AD. It’s a significant pilgrimage site, especially during the Feast of St Paul’s Shipwreck in February.
