Brussels is gearing up to welcome Europe’s largest new arts centre, Kanal-Centre Pompidou, which is set to open its doors on November 28, 2026. This massive cultural complex is housed in a former Citroën factory, spanning 40,000 square meters along the Brussels canal. The centre will feature five floors of modern and contemporary art exhibitions, a performance hall, a children’s play area, a bakery, a brasserie with a canal-side terrace, and a rooftop with panoramic views of Brussels.

The inaugural programme includes 10 exhibitions, showcasing works by renowned artists such as Lygia Clark, Sonia Delaunay, Alberto Giacometti, and Henri Matisse, alongside contemporary international and Brussels-based artists. The centre aims to bridge the cultural divide between Brussels’ prosperous southern districts and poorer, post-industrial neighborhoods to the north.
