Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, 82, is facing serious allegations of sexual assault and human trafficking from two former female employees. The women, who worked at Iglesias’ Caribbean mansions in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas in 2021, claim they were subjected to inappropriate touching, insults, and humiliation in an atmosphere of control and constant harassment. One of the women, known as Rebecca, alleges Iglesias would call her to his room and penetrate her without consent, making her feel “like an object, like a slave”. The other woman, Laura, claims Iglesias touched her breasts and kissed her without her consent.
The allegations have sparked a national outcry in Spain, with some politicians calling for Iglesias to be stripped of his national honors. Iglesias has not publicly commented on the allegations, and his representatives have not responded to requests for comment. Spanish prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into the claims.
