Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Shakes Malta

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Calabria in southern Italy early Saturday morning, shaking residents across Malta. The quake occurred in the Ionian Sea at a depth of around 52-65 kilometers, with the epicenter located 59 kilometers east-southeast of Reggio Calabria. Many people in Malta, including those in Mellieħa, Sliema, San Ġiljan, Msida, and Valletta, reported feeling the tremor, which was strong enough to wake some residents. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries or major damage so far.
