A devastating avalanche in the Spanish Pyrenees has claimed the lives of three skiers, with one person injured, near the Panticosa Ski Resort in northeastern Spain. The incident occurred on Monday, December 29, when a group of six skiers was caught in the avalanche on the west face of Pico Tablato. Rescue teams, including the Civil Guard’s Greim Mountain Rescue and Search Unit, were quickly dispatched to the scene, and search dogs were used to locate the victims.
The victims have been identified as Jorge García-Dihinx, a 55-year-old Spanish influencer and pediatrician, his wife Natalia Román, and Eneko Arrastua, all experienced skiers. A fourth woman was airlifted from the scene with hypothermia symptoms, while two others managed to escape unharmed. García-Dihinx was known for sharing health advice on his Instagram account, which had over 375,000 followers.
