On Sunday, EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib urged Israel to stop its starvation plan in Gaza and permit extensive humanitarian help.
On X, she remarked, “The scale of human suffering is shattering,” and implored Israel to make sure aid distribution was available as well as to free Israeli hostages still held in Gaza.
Lahbib’s remarks follow growing malnutrition deaths in the enclave, which have claimed over 60,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—since October. On October 7, Israel killed about 1,200 people; around 50 hostages are thought to still be in Gaza.
