US President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and benign vein condition, according to the White House. The diagnosis was made after Trump experienced mild swelling in his lower legs, prompting a comprehensive medical examination, including vascular tests. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the condition involves damaged leg veins that fail to keep blood flowing properly, leading to swelling.

The swelling and bruising, which had sparked public speculation about Trump’s health, are attributed to this vein condition and frequent handshaking. Leavitt assured the public that there are no signs of serious health issues, such as deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. Trump’s doctor confirmed that his overall health remains excellent, with normal cardiac structure and function, and no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness.

Trump’s age, 79, is noted as a factor that could contribute to the condition, as vein valves become less effective over time. Despite the diagnosis, Trump’s medical team emphasizes that the condition is manageable and does not impact his life expectancy. The White House has provided this update in the interest of transparency, as requested by Trump himself.
