Formally opening Wednesday evening at the beautiful Argotti Gardens, the Malta International Wine Festival started a five-day tribute of Maltese cuisine, music, and winemaking.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo praised the festival as a major venue for advancing the local wine business and safeguarding Malta’s extensive winemaking legacy.
“This festival celebrates the knowledge, customs, and passion of our farmers and producers rather than only an evening of entertainment,” Refalo said.
The event, which also raises money for Missio Malta, has a variety of attractions including winetasting masterclasses, handcrafted food stalls, and live musical tributes to legends such as Phil Collins, The Police, and Elvis Presley.
Organisers assert that the event aims to showcase the increasing excellence and renown of Maltese wines while also providing tourists with a special cultural experience in a historic setting. The event continues till Sunday, June 9.
