Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz, the current world number one, has parted ways with his longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, ending a seven-year partnership that yielded 24 titles, including six Grand Slam crowns. The split, announced on social media, has sent shockwaves through the tennis world, with many speculating about the reasons behind the decision.

Alcaraz, 22, expressed his gratitude towards Ferrero, calling him a “second father” and thanking him for turning his “childhood dreams into realities”. Ferrero, a former world number one and 2003 French Open champion, also shared a heartfelt message, saying he wished he could have continued coaching Alcaraz and hoping their paths would cross again.

The duo’s partnership was marked by incredible success, with Alcaraz becoming the youngest player to reach number one in the ATP rankings under Ferrero’s guidance. Ferrero’s coaching style, which focused on emotional support and technical development, played a significant role in Alcaraz’s rise to stardom.

As Alcaraz embarks on this new chapter, Samuel Lopez, who has been working with Alcaraz’s team, is expected to take on a more prominent coaching role. Alcaraz will look to build on his successful 2025 season, which saw him win eight titles, including the French Open and US Open, and secure the year-end number one ranking for the second time.
