Russia has welcomed the latest US-led peace talks aimed at ending the Ukraine war, describing the negotiations as “serious”. However, Moscow has also made it clear that it will not be making any major concessions to Kyiv. The talks follow a revised 19-point US plan, which has been met with cautious optimism by Russian officials.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the negotiations are ongoing, but emphasized that Russia’s position remains unchanged. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the US proposals could be a basis for resolving the conflict, but only if Ukraine drops its NATO ambitions and withdraws troops from four Ukrainian regions claimed by Russia.

The US and Ukraine have been engaged in intense diplomatic efforts to reach a deal, with US President Donald Trump expressing hope that an agreement could be reached soon. However, key issues such as Ukraine’s NATO membership, territorial disputes, and military limits remain unresolved.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged a multinational force to enforce a peace deal, while European leaders have expressed concerns that the US plan may be too favorable to Russia. The situation remains fluid, with Russia continuing to advance in Ukraine and the international community pushing for a negotiated settlement.
