Pope Leo XIV has revealed his four favorite films, showcasing his appreciation for classic movies that convey meaningful messages. The Pope’s top picks include “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946), a heartwarming tale of redemption and the power of community, directed by Frank Capra and starring James Stewart.

Another favorite is “The Sound of Music” (1965), a beloved musical drama starring Julie Andrews, which tells the story of a young nun who becomes the governess of a large family and teaches them to love and sing.

Pope Leo also admires “Ordinary People” (1980), a powerful drama directed by Robert Redford, which explores the complexities of family relationships and mental health.

Lastly, he chose “Life Is Beautiful” (1997), a poignant film directed by Roberto Benigni, which tells the story of a father’s love and sacrifice during World War II.

These films will be a key part of Pope Leo’s meeting with Hollywood stars, including Cate Blanchett, Chris Pine, and Viggo Mortensen, as he seeks to deepen the dialogue between the Church and the world of cinema.
