Casualties and Humanitarian Crisis

Among the at least 63 Palestinians dead in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza over 48 hours, journalist Moataz Mohammed Rajab is included.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, 10 civilians shot dead at an aid distribution center run by the Israeli- and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation

Broken into by starving crowds, four Palestinians died in World Food Programme warehouse in Deir el-Balah.

Israeli troops shelled a Red Cross field hospital in al-Mawasi, causing panic and injuries.

With terrible supply shortages, 22 of Gaza’s 38 hospitals are currently inactive.

Humanitarian Access Severely Restricted

UN OCHA reports Israel is allowing only a “trickle” of aid into Gaza—mainly flour, minimal medicine—excluding fuel, hygiene items, and shelter materials.

Aid conditions imposed by Israel have created chaotic bread lines and caused bakery shutdowns.

Switzerland reaffirms that Israel, as occupying power, is legally obligated to allow unimpeded humanitarian aid under the Geneva Conventions.

Targeting of Journalists

Journalist Moataz Rajab was killed in an Israeli strike on al-Nafaq Street, Gaza City.

This brings the number of journalists killed since October 2023 to 221, per Gaza’s Media Office.

Statement accuses Israel and Western backers, especially the US, of complicity in “genocidal crimes”.

Israel Expands Air Campaign to Yemen

Israel confirmed airstrikes on Sanaa Airport, destroying Yemen’s last functioning civilian aircraft.

The strike was in response to Houthi ballistic missiles launched at Israel.

Houthis say attacks will not deter their support for Palestinians in Gaza.

International Reactions and Divisions

Canada: Doctor Deirdre Nunan, returning from Gaza, testified to the scale of suffering and urged arms embargoes and prosecutions for attacks on healthcare.

UN Security Council: Western countries including UK, France, and Denmark rejected Israel’s “weaponised” aid mechanism; US offered unconditional support to Israel’s actions.

1,200+ Israeli academics signed an open letter urging academic institutions to oppose the war on moral and humanitarian grounds.

Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Slovenia: Released a joint statement pushing for Palestinian state recognition and reiterating support for a two-state solution.
