Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela recently toured the Gozo General Hospital, where he was briefed on the new investment plans aimed at modernizing and transforming healthcare services on the island. The hospital is currently undergoing a significant regeneration project, with the first phase already launched. This phase is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025 and involves relocating the administration to a rented building to facilitate demolition and excavation work.
The project includes the development of a new acute hospital with around 400 beds, marking a major investment in Gozo’s healthcare infrastructure. The relocation of elderly patients from the Male Geriatric Ward to Dar San Guzepp in Ghajnsielem is also part of the plan, ensuring uninterrupted care for those in need.
Prime Minister Robert Abela has also visited the hospital, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services in Gozo. The investment aims to improve the overall quality of care and provide better facilities for patients and staff.
