Chelsea started the Liam Rosenior era with a bang, cruising past Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the FA Cup third round. The Blues dominated possession, enjoying 78% of the ball in the first half, and Jorrel Hato scored the first goal in stoppage time, a stunning left-footed volley.
Tosin Adarabioyo doubled the lead early in the second half, heading in a Facundo Buonanotte free kick. Charlton pulled one back through Miles Leaburn, but Marc Guiu restored Chelsea’s two-goal lead. Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez added late goals, with Fernandez converting a penalty in stoppage time.
Rosenior, who took charge just days ago, made eight changes from Chelsea’s previous match and praised his team’s performance, saying, “A good start, professional. I thought our first goal came at an important time in the game, it was a brilliant goal for Jorrel”.
