The Government of Malta has reaffirmed its commitment to the maritime sector at a major industry event, the Malta Maritime Summit 2024. The event, held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Malta, brought together prominent and influential maritime stakeholders to discuss key challenges and concerns facing the industry, including policy, environment, sustainable shipping, and the blue economy.
Malta’s strategic maritime position and efforts to enhance sustainability in the sector were highlighted, with initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy sources, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. The government has also developed a National Maritime Transport Strategy, which outlines goals and resources for the industry’s future growth, providing stability and clarity for businesses and investors.
The Malta Maritime Forum, which marked its 10th anniversary, continues to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s maritime sector, with its work helping to safeguard Malta’s attractiveness as a leading Mediterranean maritime centre.
