A drug importer has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to his role in a major drug trafficking operation. Shane Bryan, 38, from Jamaica, was arrested at Heathrow Airport in 2019 with 10kg of cocaine hidden in his luggage. He admitted importing Class A drugs and faced a reduced sentence due to his guilty plea.
Bryan was caught attempting to board a flight to Jamaica with the cocaine, worth around £700,000. Judge Jonathan Williams highlighted the significant harm caused by cocaine trafficking and noted Bryan’s role as a “middleman” in the operation. The lengthy sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and aims to deter others from similar activities.
