The Gozo Ministry’s Cultural Heritage Directorate has embarked on a comprehensive geotechnical investigation to assess the ground conditions beneath the Cittadella bastions, a medieval citadel in Gozo, Malta. This five-year project aims to determine the stability of the ground and slopes surrounding St. Michael’s Bastion, St. John’s Demi-Bastion, the Gun Battery, and the covertway. Concrete blocks have been placed by the covertway to reinforce the area, but these will be removed once consolidation works are completed. This precautionary measure ensures the safety and stability of the site while the investigation progresses.
