A French woman has fallen victim to a devastating scam, losing her entire life savings to con artists posing as Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claims that she was duped into sending a staggering €830,000 to the scammers, who had convincingly impersonated Pitt through a series of emails and messages.
According to the woman, the scammers had sent her photos of Pitt, which they claimed were taken especially for her, in an effort to gain her trust. The scammers had also allegedly told her that Pitt was looking to start a romantic relationship with her, and that he needed her financial help to facilitate their supposed love affair. The woman, who was apparently smitten with the idea of being in a relationship with the famous actor, sent the scammers her life savings, which she had been saving for years.
The scam, which is a classic example of a “romance scam,” has left the woman financially and emotionally devastated. Romance scams typically involve scammers posing as attractive or famous individuals, who then build a fake online relationship with their victims before asking for money or personal information. In this case, the scammers’ use of Pitt’s name and image added an extra layer of convincingness to their scheme, making it even more difficult for the woman to discern the truth.
