Jordan Azzopardi has been charged with attempted murder and an ‘extremely graphic’ sex assault following an investigation into a violent incident that shocked investigators with its severity. Prosecutors outlined the charges in court, alleging that Azzopardi carried out a brutal attack that left the victim with life-threatening injuries and describing the sexual assault component as exceptionally disturbing in nature. The case was brought before a magistrate where details of the accusations were read out, leading to Azzopardi being remanded in custody while proceedings continue.
Police had arrested Azzopardi after gathering evidence from the scene and from witness statements, with authorities indicating that the investigation involved forensic analysis and medical reports to substantiate the charges. The court heard that the incident required immediate medical intervention for the victim, who remains under care.
The prosecution is treating both charges with the utmost seriousness given the alleged level of violence involved. The case has been adjourned for further hearings as the defence prepares its response and additional evidence is compiled. Azzopardi is expected to enter a plea at a later stage, and the court will continue to assess bail conditions and trial scheduling as the legal process moves forward.
