A 44-year-old Gambian man, Sedia Jallow, has been remanded in custody in Malta after denying charges of importing cannabis. Jallow appeared before Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace, with prosecutors alleging he was involved in a consignment of cannabis arriving from Lisbon. Police had been alerted to the suspected shipment on August 30, and an investigation led to Jallow’s arrest on September 11 in Ħaż-Żabbar. During a search of his residence, authorities seized items including shoes, bags, and perfumes worth thousands of euros. Jallow remained respectful and cooperative during interrogation but didn’t respond to all questions. The case against him will continue, with the hearing ongoing before Magistrate Micallef Stafrace.
