The Kremlin has stated that Russia will continue its military operation in Ukraine until it achieves its goals, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying the conflict has evolved into a wider confrontation with Western countries. Peskov emphasized that Moscow remains open to achieving its aims through political and diplomatic means, but noted that the outcome depends on the actions of the Kyiv regime.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has countered that Russia has not achieved its goals, stating “Putin has not broken Ukrainians. He has not won this war. We have preserved Ukraine, and we will do everything to secure peace and justice”.

The war has resulted in significant human suffering and economic damage, with estimates suggesting over 1.2 million Russian casualties and 500,000-600,000 Ukrainian losses. Talks between Russia and Ukraine have stalled, with disputes over territory and security guarantees.
