Russia and Ukraine have resumed talks in Geneva, Switzerland, aimed at ending the nearly four-year war, with the US acting as a mediator. The negotiations come after a fresh wave of attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities, including missile and drone strikes that left several people dead and damaged infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed frustration over US pressure to make concessions, stating that giving up territory would be unacceptable to Ukrainians.
The talks, led by Rustem Umerov for Ukraine and Vladimir Medinsky for Russia, focus on security, humanitarian issues, and territorial disputes. US President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to come to the table quickly, while Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine won’t surrender territory. The negotiations are expected to continue on Wednesday, with low expectations for a breakthrough.
