The United Nations is on the brink of financial collapse due to unpaid dues from member states and outdated financial rules, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned in a letter to member nations. With cash reserves nearly depleted, the UN risks running out of funds by July, jeopardizing its operations and programs. The US owes $2.196 billion to the UN’s regular budget, contributing significantly to the financial crisis. Guterres urged member states to either pay their dues in full and on time or overhaul the UN’s financial rules to prevent collapse.
