Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made history by becoming the first sitting Australian leader to tie the knot while in office. He married his partner, Jodie Haydon, in an intimate ceremony at The Lodge, his official residence in Canberra. The event was attended by around 60 close family members, friends, and colleagues, including Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and several cabinet ministers.
The ceremony was a private affair, with details kept under wraps until after it took place. Albanese, 62, proposed to Haydon, 46, on Valentine’s Day last year, and they exchanged vows in a civil ceremony. Their dog, Toto, served as the ring bearer, while Haydon’s five-year-old niece, Ella, was the flower girl.
The newlyweds walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” and enjoyed their first dance to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra. They will honeymoon in Australia from Monday to Friday next week, with all expenses paid privately.
