The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation has launched “Where Light Meets Legacy”, an ambitious initiative to illuminate and preserve Malta’s Baroque masterpiece. This landmark project combines the completion of an intelligent LED lighting system with a major fundraising campaign for the restoration of Mattia Preti’s iconic artworks. The initiative aims to transform the co-cathedral, a crown jewel of Valletta, into a beacon of cultural and spiritual significance.
The project is a testament to the foundation’s commitment to conservation and innovation, showcasing the perfect blend of art, history, and technology. The LED lighting system will enhance the co-cathedral’s breathtaking architecture and artworks, including Caravaggio’s renowned “Beheading of St John the Baptist”. The restoration of Preti’s works will ensure the preservation of Malta’s rich cultural heritage for generations to come.
This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote St John’s Co-Cathedral as a vibrant cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, concerts, and events that celebrate Malta’s unique history and art.
