Intel has strongly denied allegations made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) that one of its executives, Wei-Jen Lo, leaked trade secrets after joining the company. Lo, who previously worked at TSMC for 21 years, joined Intel in October after retiring from his position as senior vice president. TSMC has filed a lawsuit against Lo, claiming that he may have shared confidential information about its advanced chip technologies, including 2-nanometer and 3-nanometer processes.
Intel has stated that it has no reason to believe the allegations are true and maintains rigorous policies and controls to prevent the use or transfer of third-party confidential information. The company has welcomed Lo back, citing his integrity, leadership, and technical expertise, and emphasized that talent movement is a common and healthy part of the industry.
The lawsuit highlights the intense competition in the semiconductor industry, with TSMC and Intel vying for dominance in advanced chip manufacturing. Taiwan’s economy ministry has said it will cooperate with authorities to determine whether the case involves infringement of core technologies or violations of national security laws.
