Barcelona made a triumphant return to their iconic Camp Nou stadium, thrashing Athletic Bilbao 4-0 in a La Liga match that marked the end of a two-and-a-half-year exile. The Spanish champions, who had been playing at the Olympic Stadium, were back home in style, with Ferran Torres scoring a brace and Robert Lewandowski and Fermin Lopez also getting on the scoresheet.

The match was a significant milestone for Barcelona, who had planned to reopen the stadium a year ago but faced construction delays and setbacks. The rebuilt Camp Nou, which will eventually have a capacity of 105,000, was operating at a reduced capacity of 45,157 for the match. The atmosphere was electric, with fans singing and cheering as the team took to the pitch.

Lewandowski opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and Torres doubled the lead just before halftime. The second half saw more of the same, with Lopez scoring the third goal and Torres netting his second to seal the win. The victory puts Barcelona joint top of La Liga, level on points with Real Madrid.
