Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a defiant speech at the United Nations General Assembly, vowing to block the creation of a Palestinian state and continuing Israel’s military campaign against Hamas in Gaza. Despite widespread international criticism and diplomatic walkouts, Netanyahu remained resolute in his stance, asserting that a Palestinian state would endanger Israel’s security and encourage terrorism. His speech was met with strong opposition, as dozens of officials and diplomats walked out of the UN hall in protest.

The walkout was a testament to Israel’s growing isolation on the world stage, with many countries expressing their disapproval of Netanyahu’s policies. In contrast, Netanyahu repeatedly praised President Donald Trump, his chief ally in the region, and emphasized the support of the United States. Netanyahu’s speech was also marked by controversy, as he accused his critics of antisemitism and displayed a map titled “The Curse,” which he claimed illustrated the regional struggle against threats from Gaza, Yemen, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraqi militias.

Netanyahu’s stance on Palestinian statehood has been consistent, and he has made it clear that Israel will not halt its Gaza campaign. His government’s maximalist war aims in Gaza have drawn sharp criticism from the international community, with many calling for an immediate ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid. The European Union is considering tariffs and sanctions on Israel, and the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant accusing Netanyahu of crimes against humanity.
