Copenhagen and Oslo airports have reopened after drone sightings forced the suspension of air traffic the previous evening. The airports in both cities were temporarily shut down due to safety concerns after multiple drone sightings were reported. According to police and airport officials, the drones were seen flying over the airports for several hours before they disappeared on their own, without being intercepted or shot down.

In Copenhagen, at least 15 flights were diverted to other airports during the four-hour closure, which lasted from 8:26 PM local time to 3:22 AM local time. Oslo Airport also experienced disruptions, with two separate drone sightings reported, leading to a temporary shutdown from midnight local time. The airport resumed operations around 3:15 AM local time. While the airports are now open, officials warn of potential delays and cancellations, urging passengers to stay in touch with their airlines.

The incidents have raised concerns about potential sabotage or malicious intent, with Danish authorities describing the situation as “an attack” and emphasizing that they are taking it extremely seriously. Police in Denmark and Norway are cooperating to determine whether there is a link between the two incidents. Although the exact origin and purpose of the drones remain unknown, Danish police believe they were flown by a “capable operator” seeking to demonstrate certain abilities. The investigation is ongoing, with no suspects identified yet.

The drone sightings have also sparked wider concerns about security in the region, particularly given recent allegations of Russian airspace violations in neighboring countries. However, at this point, there is no indication that the drones are linked to these incidents or pose a direct threat to public safety.
