Rafael Leão’s Calf Injury Forces Him to Miss AC Milan’s Serie A Opener

AC Milan’s star forward, Rafael Leão, will miss the team’s opening Serie A match against Cremonese due to a calf injury. The Portuguese international suffered a strain to his right calf during Milan’s 2-0 win over Bari in the Italian Cup. Leão had scored the opening goal in the 14th minute but was substituted off just 17 minutes into the game.

The injury will keep Leão out of action for at least the first match of the season, and his availability for the next game against Lecce on August 29 will be assessed on a daily basis. This is a significant blow to Milan’s chances in the opening match, as Leão is a key player for the team. His absence will likely impact Milan’s attacking prowess, and coach Massimiliano Allegri will hope that Leão recovers quickly.

Leão’s injury also raises concerns about his availability for Portugal’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Hungary in September. His speed and scoring ability are crucial to the team’s success, and his absence could be a significant setback for the national team.
