UK pop star Cliff Richard, 85, has revealed he was treated for prostate cancer over the past year, but says the disease has been successfully treated. The singer, known for hits like “Summer Holiday” and “Living Doll”, discovered the cancer during a routine health check before embarking on an international tour.
Richard told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that the cancer was caught early and hadn’t spread to his bones or other organs. He’s now urging men to get tested, criticizing the lack of a national prostate cancer screening program in the UK, calling it “absolutely ridiculous”.
Interestingly, Richard’s announcement comes just days after King Charles III revealed his own cancer treatment is being reduced in the new year. The king has also emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, saying it “saves lives”. Richard hopes to work with the king to improve cancer screening awareness.
