US President Donald Trump announced a new class of heavily armed warships named after himself, dubbed the “Trump-class” battleships, at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. These vessels will be among the largest and most lethal surface warfare ships, equipped with advanced technology, including hypersonic weapons, electronic rail guns, cruise missiles, and high-powered lasers. The Trump-class ships will weigh between 30,000 and 40,000 tons and are expected to be 100 times more powerful than existing battleships. Trump emphasized that the ships will be built domestically, with a goal of manufacturing 20 to 25 vessels, and will form part of the “Golden Fleet” initiative aimed at bolstering US naval dominance.
