Scotland’s manager Steve Clarke expressed disappointment after some fans booed the team following a 1-0 defeat to Japan in a World Cup warm-up match at Hampden Park. Clarke acknowledged the fans’ frustration but emphasized that the team’s performance showed promise, especially against strong opposition. “It’s just the modern way, it seems to be now if you lose a game you get booed. You have just got to deal with it. It disappoints me,” Clarke said.

The match, which saw Japan’s Junya Ito score the winning goal in the 84th minute, was Scotland’s first return to the national stadium since their World Cup qualification in November. Clarke defended his strategy of scheduling tough friendlies, citing the need for his team to adapt to the level required for the World Cup group stage.
