A Romanian national, Stanislav Carpiuc, 26, from Romford, east London, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life in connection with a series of fires targeting properties linked to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The fires occurred on three consecutive nights in north London between May 8 and May 12, fortunately, without causing any injuries. Carpiuc was arrested at Luton Airport, north of London, on Saturday.
This development comes after Roman Lavrynovych, a 21-year-old Ukrainian national, appeared in court on charges of setting fire to Starmer’s family home, as well as another property and a vehicle associated with the Prime Minister. Lavrynovych denied the charges during a police interview. Meanwhile, an unnamed 34-year-old individual was arrested in Chelsea, west London, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.
The investigation into the fires continues, with the Metropolitan Police working to determine the motives and potential connections between the suspects. The properties targeted are believed to have some connection to Prime Minister Starmer, although he and his family had already moved into the official Downing Street residence after his election in July. The authorities are taking these incidents seriously, and the trial for the accused will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the fires.
