Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky marked the four-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin has failed to achieve his goals in Ukraine. “Putin has not achieved his goals. He did not break the Ukrainians. He did not win this war. We have preserved Ukraine, and we will do everything to achieve peace — and to ensure there is justice,” Zelensky said in his address.

Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s resilience and determination, highlighting the country’s defense efforts and the international support received. Despite heavy losses, Russian troops have slowly advanced on the front line, particularly in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, which Moscow aims to annex.

The war has devastated Ukraine, with hundreds of thousands killed and millions displaced. The cost of post-war reconstruction is estimated at $588 billion over the next decade. Talks between Ukraine and Russia, relaunched by the US, have stalled over territory disputes.
