Activists gathered outside the US embassy to voice their strong opposition to certain policies, with one protester labeling them as ‘cruelty being presented as policy’. The demonstration, which took place in Manila, turned violent when police intervened, using a vehicle to disperse the crowd and firing tear gas, resulting in injuries and arrests. The protesters were advocating for an independent foreign policy and criticizing US military presence in the Philippines.
In a similar incident, Greenpeace UK activists protested at the US embassy in London, highlighting the US’s role in the Israel-Gaza conflict by pouring blood-red dye into the embassy’s pond. They urged governments to stop selling arms to Israel, citing concerns over war crimes and humanitarian crises.
