Hamdi Al-Najjar, Adam’s father, was also badly hurt in the assault and is in the hospital with his son. Dr. His mother, physician Alaa Al-Najjar, works at the same hospital. Particularly after Adam’s uncle, Ali Al-Najjar, passionately urged the Italian government via La Repubblica for quick medical evacuation, the family’s tragedy has garnered worldwide notice.

Ali remarked, “He has to be transported right away to a genuine hospital outside the Gaza Strip.” I urge the Italian government to act somewhat. Take him. Save him, Italians.

Italy’s foreign ministry said in a statement in response that it was prepared to move the child for treatment and that it is now evaluating the logistical and practical difficulties entailed in executing the evacuation. The offer of assistance highlights increasing global concern regarding the terrible humanitarian condition in Gaza, where a failing healthcare system is unable to give enough treatment to the thousands hurt by continuous Israeli attacks.

Adam’s situation has come to strongly represent the impact this conflict has had on Gaza’s families and children—those who have survived physically but whose lives have been irrevocably broken.
